Grand County's Energy Action Plan: Building a Brighter, Cleaner Future Together

In 2024, Grand County came together to create the Community Energy Action Plan—a shared roadmap for a future where energy is affordable, reliable, and clean for everyone who lives, works, and visits here. Join the movement to bring this plan to life!

Our Community Vision:

A future where all residents, businesses, and visitors have access to energy that’s easy on the wallet, dependable in every season, and kind to our environment.

To make that vision a reality, the plan sets a bold but achievable goal: double the number of residents and businesses participating in energy efficiency programs by 2026.

Why does this matter?

Energy used in our homes and businesses makes up about 31% of total energy consumption!

Improving efficiency here means we can cut greenhouse gas emissions, reduce energy bills, and make our buildings more comfortable and sustainable. According to the EPA, energy efficiency programs can help save 20–30% on overall energy use—a win for our wallets and our planet.

Spotlight on Winter Park:

Winter Park is leading the charge by committing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 60% by 2030 (from 2023 levels) and aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050. Buildings are the biggest contributor—responsible for 80% of emissions in 2023—so energy efficiency is a major part of the solution.

Stronger Together:

This countywide plan is the result of collaboration between local towns, organizations, and partners, including:

  • Towns of Winter Park, Fraser, Granby, Grand Lake, and Kremmling
  • Grand County
  • Sustainable Grand
  • Xcel Partners in Energy & Mountain Parks Electric
  • Winter Park Resort & Granby Ranch
