World-Class Recreation

Nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Winter Park is home to world-class recreation, from local parks, national parks, multi-use trails to ski resorts.

Recreation District

The Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District offers a variety of indoor and outdoor activities for children and adults throughout the Fraser Valley and Winter Park area. Visit the Recreation District website for a list of activities.

Recreation Center

The Grand Park Community Recreation Center is located in Fraser just outside the town of Winter Park. The Recreation Center, which opened in December of 2009, contains a natatorium with a 20-foot loop slide, spray and play feature, a lazy river, zero-depth entry pool and a four-lane, 25-yard lap pool.

The center also includes a whirlpool, sauna and steam room, a climbing wall, a multi-sport gymnasium, and a cardio, circuit training and free-weight area linked to a running/walking track. Drop-in childcare is available, as well as locker rooms and family changing rooms.

Local Parks

Winter Park is home to multiple local parks as well as one skate park for our residents and visitors to enjoy. With the exception of Wolf Park, they are used on a first-come, first-served basis, and are open year-round.

National Parks

Rocky Mountain National Park

The western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park can be accessed by US Highway 34 through Grand Lake.

Arapaho & Roosevelt National Forests

Surrounding the Winter Park area, the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and associated Pawnee National Grasslands encompasses 1.5 million acres and extends north to the Wyoming border.
