Connect Winter Park
Overview of Connect Winter Park
A new gondola going between Downtown and the Winter Park Resort will provide a convenient, modern, and enjoyable transportation option. It will be a new way for people to travel back and forth between two thriving areas of town, the Resort and downtown. When complete, the gondola will be a public amenity, likely to be owned by the Town of Winter Park but operated by the Resort. For locals, the project will make commuting to and from the Resort easier and help reduce traffic. It’s also a catalyst for private investment, which will bring more jobs, housing, and opportunity.
Current Status
This vision has been three decades in the making. It’s featured in the Resort’s Master Development Plan and is part of a long-term vision for the redeveloped base area.
Town Role
The Town of Winter Park, Winter Park Resort and local community developer WC Johnson have furthered their collective efforts to advance the program. The gondola would be a key component to the Town’s long-term transportation plans that include connections through the Lift bus service, Bustang regional bus service, and passenger rail.
