Winter Park 101: Your Guide to Local Government

Have you ever wondered what it means to be a Town Council member? Or how departments and elected officials work together? Well, we’ve got the answers!

The Town of Winter Park is excited to host the new Winter Park 101 program, a two-part event to share how the local government operates and how citizens can run for Town Council. Both events are open to all and free to attend.

Town Council Q&A

Wednesday, January 8, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

To kick things off, join us at The Perk Taproom, 78321 US-40, for a question and answer session with several Town Council members. They’ll give insight into what it means to serve on Town Council and how to run in the election.

Behind the Scenes of Winter Park

Wednesday, January 15, 5:30-7 p.m.

If the Q&A sparked your interest, attend the second Winter Park 101 for a deep dive into Town operations. Tour Town Hall and other facilities, and get a rundown from each department on how they operate and work with Town Council. To RSVP, email Town Clerk Danielle Jardee at djardee@wpgov.com. Participants will meet at Winter Park Town Hall, 50 Vasquez Road.

The next Winter Park municipal election will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Four Town Council member seats will be filled during that election. For those interested in running for Council, nomination packets will be available for pick up in early January. More information will be available soon on www.wpgov.com.
