A New Place to Play: Hideaway Park Playground Ribbon Cutting on June 18, 2026

Winter Park, CO — Winter Park is celebrating the new Hideaway Park Playground opening on June 18, 2026, with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. after which attendees are welcome to experience the new playground and stick around for the first High-Note Thursday Concert of the summer.

The new playground structure and equipment reflect a commitment to design driven by local inspiration, community, and history. The new play structure, designed by Earthscapes, features custom equipment, including a nod to the Historic Moffat Tunnel, Parry Peak, and a custom climbing structure of a bear.

“We’re so excited to bring this updated playground and play equipment to our families and community members in Winter Park. With Hideaway Park being a central hub for our community events and gatherings, we’re grateful to be able to create a safe space for kids to play that reflects our history and values,” said Town of Winter Park Public Works Director, Jamie Wolter.

The $2.4 million project was developed with direct input from the Town Council and creates a one-of-a-kind play environment that connects children and families to the history and natural beauty of the region. Landscape and fencing design, as well as broader park improvements, were led by Kimley-Horn and included the new posts for all of the shade sails at the adjacent Skate Park. Fisk Lawnscapes served as the general contractor and coordinated all subcontractors to complete the project on time.

The playground will be open to all following the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The project began in April of 2026 and stayed on schedule throughout the process. The Town of Winter Park invites all community members to come out and play this summer at the new Hideaway Park Playground.

Work continues on the Hideaway Park Playground with plans to hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting on June 18! More information about the ribbon-cutting is coming soon.

Recently, crews have been installing artificial turf on the younger kids' mound. A new fence and entrance will also be installed once delivered!

Update: April 30, 2026

Installation of new playground equipment has begun, but remember: even when workers aren't present, the playground is still not ready for public use. Please respect the construction fencing around the playground. A grand opening is planned on June 18, 2026.

Construction Starts on the New Playground!

Construction on the new playground at Hideaway Park starts in April! The construction fence goes up in early April, followed by concrete foundations and footings. In mid-April, playground equipment will arrive and be installed with a crane, a process that will take around a week.

Once equipment is installed, crews will start work on surfacing, landscaping, and fencing. The project is projected to be complete in June 2026!

Check out the video below to see the concept design!

The concept design was chosen to reflect Winter Park's unique history while also highlighting the beautiful area we live in.

While this is an exciting transformation, we understand it means a temporary disruption. Some areas around the playground will be closed for safety until the project is complete.
