Are you planning a tree removal project or need to clear branches from your lot? The Town’s annual tree and slash removal program is in full swing now through September, and it’s designed to make it easier for you to maintain your property.
How the Program Helps
To support community safety and help prevent wildfires, the Town offers free removal of dead or diseased trees and trees taken down as a fire precaution around homes.
Reminder: Do Not Include
This service is specifically for trees that were dead, diseased, or removed for fire prevention.
It is not for:
- Trees removed for new construction, land development, or commercial purposes
- Tree stumps, trash, dirt, or yard waste (such as leaves or pine needles)
If your piles include any of these materials, they may not get picked up at all.
Preparing for Pickup
If you’re handling tree removal, the Town will take care of the heavy lifting. Just follow these steps:
- Email bstensvad@wpgov.com with the property address, owner’s name, contact phone number, and your plan to do the work yourself.
- Plan to put piles along the edge of the road in the Town’s right-of-way (usually the first 15 feet past pavement). Do not place materials for pickup on pavement or private property.
- Place logs and slash — smaller tree debris such as branches and limbs — in two separate piles. Logs must be cut into 6-foot lengths.
This seasonal service helps protect our community while giving you a cleaner, safer property, with a little less work for you.
