Parks, Trails, Campgrounds, and Open Space Comprehensive Plan

Winter Park has come a long way, from the quiet village of Hideaway Park in 1978 to the vibrant mountain town and recreation hub it is today. As our community continues to grow, so does the need to care for and expand the outdoor spaces that make Winter Park special.

The Parks, Trails, Campgrounds, and Open Space Master Plan lays out a shared vision for the future of our town’s outdoor recreation areas. It helps guide how we maintain, improve, and add new parks, trails, and open spaces while protecting the natural beauty and resources that draw people here in the first place.

What is the Purpose of the Plan?

It establishes a common vision for the Town’s future for:

  • Shape the future of Winter Park’s outdoor amenities.
  • Balance growth with preservation of scenic landscapes and natural habitats.
  • Support the community’s recreation needs and enhance visitor experiences.
  • Ensure new developments and improvements align with the town’s long-term goals.

Maintaining and Updating the Plan

To keep this vision on track, the plan will be reviewed regularly by the Town Council, Planning Commission, staff, and community partners.

Connecting to Imagine Winter Park

This Master Plan builds on the community-driven goals outlined in Imagine Winter Park, the Town’s 2019 comprehensive plan. Those ideas laid the foundation for how we see the future of recreation in Winter Park, from enhancing what we already have to creating new opportunities for people to get outside.

The strategies in this plan connect directly to the vision themes and goals of Imagine Winter Park, ensuring we’re moving in the same direction.
